The Discussion Project is a campus professional development program that will train participants how to create productive discussions with students on serious topics in a welcoming, engaging and academically rigorous classroom.

The Discussion ProjectThroughout the project, participants will attend two full-day sessions and one half-day session, administer surveys to students, and provide feedback for the program. The Discussion Project team will begin reviewing applications on July 6 until the cohort is filled.

Paula McAvoy created and is implementing The Discussion Project in collaboration with Diana Hess.

McAvoy is the program director for the Center for Ethics and Education, which is housed within the Wisconsin Center for Education Research at the School of Education. Hess is dean of the School of Education and holds the Karen A. Falk Distinguished Chair of Education.
