The External Relations Office within the School of Education is partnering with University Communications to provide a media training session on Wednesday, Jan. 20.
The event, which is open to everyone in the School, will be held in the Education Building’s Wisconsin Idea Room from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
John Lucas, director of University Communications, Meredith McGlone, director of news and media relations, and Käri Knutson, a university relations specialist, will discuss what makes an interesting news story, how the university communicates internally and externally, and how to manage interactions with the media. Dawn Crim, associate dean for External Relations, and Todd Finkelmeyer will discuss news engagement and management in the School of Education. Select School of Education faculty will also share their experiences working with University Communications on op-eds, and highlight their efforts to connect research to policymakers, citizen associations and the media.
