Description

How large are economic disparities in college attendance, and are some high schools better equipped at sending low-income students to college? If so, what high school characteristics can help explain the variation in college-going outcomes for these students?

At this event, hosted by the Wisconsin Center for the Advancement of Postsecondary Education (WISCAPE), Noah Hirschl, Christian Smith, and Eric Grodsky will present their ongoing research addressing these questions. In partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, they examine administrative data from students in Wisconsin high schools to identify the common characteristics of schools that facilitate college attendance, four-year college attendance, and elite college attendance among economically disadvantaged students.

This event is cosponsored by the Interdisciplinary Training Program in Education Sciences (ITP).
