Finalists to become Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion to deliver presentations

Three finalists to become the UW-Madison School of Education’s Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion will be delivering public presentations and taking part in question-and-answer sessions as part of the interview process.

Each talk will take place at 10:30 a.m. in Room 198 of the Education Building. Following is the list of presentation dates, and the name and current position of each finalist:

• Wednesday, May 30 -- Mel Freitag, UW-Madison. Freitag is the Diversity Officer for the School of Nursing.

• Wednesday, June 6 –– Kyle Oldham, Colorado State University. Oldham is the Associate Director of Housing and Dining Services for Diversity, Inclusion and Assessment, the Diversity Trainer for the Office of the Vice President for Diversity, and the Faculty Advisor to Student Affairs in Higher Education.

• Friday, June 8 -- Marianne Magjuka, Wake Forest University. Magjuka is the Executive Director of the Pro Humanitate Institute and the Assistant Dean of Students with the Office of the Dean of Students.

The Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion is a new position within the School. This individual will provide leadership around issues related to demographic and ideological diversity, inclusive excellence, sexual harassment, implicit bias and identity in our School, our campus and our community. This person will work closely with faculty, staff and students to improve the climate of the School and the wider campus.
