Zaira Magaña Carbajal

Zaira Magaña is a PhD student in Educational Policy Studies, with a concentration in Comparative and International Education, at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She earned her BA in Pedagogy and her MSc in Public Policy from the University of Bristol. Beyond academia, Zaira has participated in educational and human rights projects with schools and teachers. She has coordinated projects for educational policy analysis and worked as an independent consultant. As a doctoral student, her research interests focus on analyzing the impacts of violence and inequality on marginalized youth and highlighting the pedagogical practices that enable educators to continue teaching in contexts of marginalization and violence.
