Adalberto Castrejón

Adalberto “Beto” Castrejón is a first-year Ph.D. student in the Educational Policy Studies program. His research interests include the critical study of race and racism, quantitative methodology, college access and success, and ecological systems theory. His research hopes to focus on utilizing quantitative methodology to examine how college access and success policies can shape cultural, social, economic and political systems to further advance social justice and liberation.

His research interests have been formed from his identity as a first-generation Mexican American, his work in college admission, and in supporting college student success. He currently serves on the national board of Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity Inc. He holds a B.A. in Business Marketing from the University of Northern Iowa, and a M.A. in Higher Education and Student Affairs along with a graduate certificate in Institutional Research and Effectiveness from the University of Iowa.
