EPS Graduating Major Emma Contreras

I pursued an Educational Policy Studies certificate because I found my passion in learning about our education system and thinking about holistic ways to improve every student and faculty’s experience in the classroom by addressing inequalities and disparities. Some of my proudest achievements at UW-Madison have been getting to spend a semester volunteering at Wingra School and learning about how they incorporate an environmentally-conscious and culturally aware curriculum through the EdPol150 course with Professor Mark Johnson, designing an educational poster based off of my literature review on the experiences of female superintendents and educational leaders with Professor Kyoungjin Jang-Tucci for my Communication B course, and my Environmental Capstone project in which my group designed an educational tool in the form of an activity/coloring book to teach kids about community-based food production and ecological relationships with Hannah Kass. After graduation, I will be coming right back here in the fall to start my MS in the Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis graduate program.
