Farah is a doctoral student in the Department of Educational Policy Studies, specializing in Comparative and International Education. Originally from Lahore, Pakistan, she holds a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and Sociology. Her research focuses on education, gender and sexuality, reproductive and sexual health and rights (SRHR), and development. She examines sex education in schools in Pakistan, exploring how cultural and institutional structures shape students’ understanding of gender, sexuality, and bodily autonomy. She is particularly interested in how schools (re)produce sociocultural notions of shame around the female body, influencing young girls’ experiences of education and identity. Her work critically analyzes how these ideas are reinforced through curricula, school policies, and social interactions. Through her research, she aims to contribute to discussions on SRHR, educational reform, and gender equity, advocating for inclusive, stigma-free learning environments.
