Yenny Chavarría is a Colombian language teacher from the University of Antioquia, and a PhD student in Educational Policy Studies, also MS student in Curriculum and Instruction. Her research interests include critical theories, professional development, language, educational policies, human-earth relationships and rural education. Her current research explores how Colombian rural youth use language to express learning (from nature, families, schools), as well as to create, reinforce and/or challenge discourses about el campo and being a campesino. Drawing on decolonial and critical theories, she explores how education systems, policies, and practices can be facilitators or impediments for marginalized populations to live a good life now and in the future.
