A native of Malawi, Isaac Phiri, is a PhD student in Educational Policy Studies at the UW-Madison. His research focuses on understanding how mission-driven organizations like NGOs and governments in Malawi and the Sub-Saharan Africa implement educational reforms and innovations, especially in marginalized communities. Drawing from the anthropology of policy, implementation research, and comparative international education, he is particularly interested in how these organizations navigate local contexts, organizational dynamics, and social networks to drive meaningful change.
